EOS 550D/600D Infrared Camera

Our Canon EOS 550D and 600D have been specially adapted to detect infrared light and are the ideal choice for light weight observational documentary filming. Capable of capturing scenes illuminated with invisible infrared light in total darkness at both full HD and 720p resolution.

The camera records video at 1920 x 1080 24p, 25p, 30p and 1280 x 720 at 50p and 60p. With an onboard microphone and audio line in for an auxiliary microphone, this lightweight camera is easy to operate and records onto SD memory cards. An ideal choice for night filming, switching between stills and video and use in remote locations.

Infrared produces a familiar look for night filming with crisp resolution and depth of contrast. The distance the camera can record is dependent on the power of the infrared lights used to illuminate the scene. Unlike the starlight camera, the infrared camera is not supplemented by natural light causing a sharp drop off to black (curtain effect) when used in large open areas.
